Ep. 53: SKID ROW's Rob Hammersmith - Songs From The Road

Episode Summary

This week is the boys dabble in a little voodoo, and manage to snare a rock star! It’s our very first official interview episode here at InObscuria, as we chat with drummer extraordinaire and all-around amazing dude: Rob Hammersmith from SKID ROW! Of course, we have to make it about obscure music, so we get Rob to talk about some of those not-so-famous tunes that help him to tune in while trying to tune out on the road. Find out what the Skids are up to these days, and what songs inspire the beat behind the behemoth that is SKID ROW!

Episode Notes

What is it we do here at InObscuria? On most shows, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This go round we turn the microphone over to Rob Hammersmith to enlighten us with his lost, forgotten, and should have beens selections. Our hope is always that we turn you on to something new.

Songs this week include:

  1. Poison Arrows - “Sticky Situation” from Sticky Situations EP (2008)
  2. Jimmy Barnes - “Lessons In Love” from Freight Train Heart (1987)
  3. Shotgun Messiah - “Violent New Breed” from Violent New Breed (1993)
  4. The Goo Goo Dolls - “Fallin’ Down” from Superstar Car Wash (1993)
  5. Imperial State Electric - “Underwhelmed” from Reptile Brain Music (2013)
