Ep. 61: Grave Mistake: THE MISSION Shoulda Been Huge - Pt. 2!!!

Episode Summary

This week we continue where we left off last time with Part 2 of our campaign to champion the goth gods known as THE MISSION! Although they had success in the UK, they never made as much of an impact in the US. We assert that it’s a “Grave Mistake” they “Shoulda Been Huge”! This week we cover the second half of their career (1995-2016) when they got back to their goth rock roots and even clawed their way back into the UK charts.

Episode Notes

This episode is obviously rooted firmly in our Should Have Been category. The Mission were an off-shoot of Sisters Of Mercy that took goth rock and combined it with classic rock and punk. Eleven full-length albums, (27) singles, (9) live albms, and (10) compilations & EPs and they are still going strong!

Songs this week include:

  1. “Sway” from Neverland (1995)
  2. “Evermore And Again” from Blue (1996)
  3. “Evangeline” from Aura (2001)
  4. “Hdshrinkerea” from God Is A Bullet (2007)
  5. “Sometimes The Brightest Light Comes From The Darkest Place” from The Brightest Light (2013)
  6. “Tyranny Of Secrets” from Another Fall From Grace (2016)
