Ep. 64: Dust Off - New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal

Episode Summary

This week what’s old is new and the boys dust off the denim and leather… That’s right; it’s all about the re-interpretation of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal known as New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal! The NWOBM movement was a product of post-punk and arena rock in the UK in the 1970s, while NWOTHM is a product of post-screamo and the internet. Younger bands trying to recapture that old school metal sound with lots of juicy guitar-monies. Hopefully, we can help spread the word and sounds to give this reinvention more attention!

Episode Notes

What’s this InObscuria thing? We’re a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss the SHOULD BEs. Taking their cues from the music, fashion, and the attitude from 40-years ago, these younger bands unashamedly bask in a new underground movement of hard rock and metal poised to make the kids rock and the old timers smile!

Songs this week include:

  1. Haunt – “Burst Into Flame” from Burst Into Flame (2018)
  2. Enforcer – “On The Loose” from Into The Night (2008)
  3. Priestess – “Lady Killer” from Prior To The Fire (2009)
  4. Pounder – “Spoils Of War” from Breaking The World (2021)
  5. Pride Tiger – “What It Is” from The Lucky Ones (2007)
  6. Ambush – “Hellbound” from Firestorm (2014)
  7. White Wizzard – “Octane Gypsy” from Hight Speed GTO (2009)
