Ep. 80: Bustin' Through The Garage with Captain Ryan

Episode Summary

Ahoy! This week we are once again visited by our favorite funk pirate: Captain Ryan. After an unfortunate docking of the pirate ship through Robert’s garage, we decide to stay ashore and discuss the genre known as Garage Rock. Many of you are probably familiar with Little Steven’s Underground Garage show on satellite radio. We try to take a different approach by mostly focusing on bands from the rebirth of garage in the early aughts. Hope you digs!

Episode Notes

What’s this InObscuria thing? We’re a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. Captain Ryan makes sure that we visit bands in all 3 categories during our recording session in the garage.

Songs this week include:

  1. The Paybacks – “Painkiller” from Love, Not Reason (2006)
  2. The Make-Up – “Blue Is Beautiful” from After Dark [Live] (1997)
  3. Riverboat Gamblers – “Don’t Bury Me… I’m Still Not Dead Yet” from To The Confusion Of Our Enemies (2006)
  4. The Dirt Bombs – “Chains Of Love” from Ultraglide In Black (2001)
  5. The D4 – “Invader Ace” from 6Twenty (2003)
  6. Rock ‘N’ Roll Soldiers – “Anthem” from Fabulosos Calavera (1997)
  7. DMZ – “Destroyer” from DMZ (1978)
  8. Thee Oh Sees – “Abysmal Urn” from Smote Reverser (2018)
