Ep. 85: Excavation - Heavy Metal Mix Tape 82-83

Episode Summary

Metalheads around the globe rejoice! This week the InObscuria Podcast brings you select songs from a recent crypt excavation of a mix tape simply labelled: HEAVY METAL from 1983! This cassette tape was loaned to a young Kevin in or around 1987 by an older cousin and introduced him to so many bands that he had never heard of. Tape trading in the 80s was the only connection you had to hear the more obscure bands that weren’t played on the radio or MTV, and this particular tape was a true snapshot of Heavy Metal in 82-83!

Episode Notes

What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week we let you hear a very special tape of true Heavy Metal before it splintered into a million sub-genres. These are the bands that carried the hard rock banner out of the 70s into the Heavy Metal 80s! This is true metal that helped push the genre to the mainstream. Our hope is that we turn you on to something new.
